Description

The 6th Regiment, Mississippi Cavalry was organized October 1863 in Lowndes County, Mississippi under the command of Col. Isham Harrison and served in the Western Theater. It was later commanded by Cols. Thomas C. Lipscomb and R. G. Brown. It was mustered into Confederate service in January 1864 and assigned to Ruggles’, Mabry’s, and Starke’s brigades. It was consolidated with the 8th Regiment, Mississippi Cavalry in February 1865, and it surrendered with the Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana and was mustered out of service on May 4, 1865.
