Description

Currently located in Benton County, Salem was founded in 1836 in what was Tippah County at the time of founding and was incorporated in 1837. On July 20, 1870 Salem became part of the newly founded Tippah County. Presently, Salem is a deserted town with few or no remaining inhabitants.
