Located in Holly Springs, Mississippi, the Mississippi Central Railroad Company was a railroad company operating from 1852 to 1877. The Mississippi Central Railroad Company was impacted by General Grant's Mississippi Central Railroad Campaign of November 1862, whereby the Union destroyed a large portion of the rail line, cutting off the Confederacy from supplies and causing a retreat, thwarting General Grant's overall goal of the campaign, which was to seize control of Vicksburg, Mississippi.
