Description

Located in Jefferson County, Louisville was founded in 1779 in what was then Kentucky County, Virginia (now extinct). It became a part of Jefferson County when it was created on November 1, 1780 and was incorporated that same year. Jefferson County became part of Kentucky upon the state's creation on June 1, 1792.
