The 4th Battalion, Mississippi Cavalry or the 2nd Battalion, Mississippi Cavalry (Confederate), also known as Pope Walker's Battalion, was organized in the fall of 1862 under the command of Maj. Charles Baskerville and served in the Western Theater in W. Adam's, Mabry's‚ and Starke's brigades. It was re-designated as the 8th Regiment, Mississippi Cavalry in April 1862.
