My Company, ("Walker Reserves") was called to rendezvous at Iuka Miss. on 24th last August, and prior to that time I notified you that my First Lieut Nathan, S, Patterson and Third Lieut, David C. C. Rodgers (whom you had commissioned) to=gether with a number of said com=pany had gone to Virginia and other places in the army—without permis=sions;—and upon arriving at Iuka with my company

by order of Brigd Genl Jas. L. Alcorn, an Election was held in Company Quarters to fill Said Vacan=cy, which resulted in the election of Isaac R. Snoddy as First Lieut'' and James, M. Glenn as Third Lieut" and from Some cause un=known to myself they yet remain without commissions—if you have not yet done so you will confer a favor upon myself and these Officers by forwarding to this place their Commissions immediately
