Memphis Tenn April 9th 1876

Genl. J R Chalmers.

Dear Sir,

I write this to request that you will apply to the gover-nor of Miss for the appointment of D. A. Harrell Esqr. of this Coun-ty (Shelby) as commissioner of deeds etc, for your State. Esqr. Harrell is an old citizen of this county & is now & has been for a long time a Justice of the Peace, is in good standing in every respect & perfectly reliable. If you will interest yourself in the matter you will greatly oblige him as well as myself.

name is Delos Alexan-der Harrell & his Post Office is Collierville, Shelby County Tenn. Whatever fees are to be paid inform me of it & I will see that it is forwarded as you may direct.

I herewith enclose a letter to Govr. of Miss. asking the appointment—Commsr Deeds—&c—please deliver it to him, if you think it will be necessary.

I think Col. Logwood's letter will be satisfactory to yourself—at least I so flatter myself—I was a client of yours at the time you lived in Memphis and had Jno. Hallum Esq for a partner.

Please attend to this matter for me General.
