Hon. & Dear Sir

I write to ask for the appointment of "Commissioner of Deeds for the State of Mississippi."

I hold already the Office of Justice of the Peace, and Notary Public. I send you an impress-ion of my notarial seal on this letter. The Town of Collierville is on the Memphis & Charleston Rail Road, in Shelby County Tennessee, 24 Miles East of Memphis, has nearly a thousand (1000) inhabitants, and is near the line of Miss. Quite a number of cases arise requiring certificates of acknowledgment for property in Miss, and parties sometimes go from here to Memphis to find a Commissioner (of Deeds)

A few days ago there were 28 acknowledgments to be taken (in one day) upon the sale of Miss. property. The parties may all go to Memphis yet for that purpose. You will do me the favor to let me know at your earliest convenience what will be required of me—what recommendations must
