Dear sir & friend

As I am unacquainted with our Attorney General and at the same time am aware that he is not the legal adviser of Clerks &c allow me to trouble you so much as to get his opinion in regard to a little matter which _is exercising a few of us at presant.

What disposition is to be made of _a Freed-man who is a lunatic to all intents and purposes. Is he entitled to the protection of the Lunatic Asylum at Jackson or is he to be turned loose on the community as we can see no provision of the statute under which they can be considered paupers and the Poor houses of the different counties are not built with a view to confine wild men
