Dear Bob

I learned when I came hear yesterday evening that eight attrition has been circulated and sign and sent to Jackson for my appointment from members of the bar of Tupelo and Booneville and also one from [unclear] My understanding was a meeting would be held today but it seems they were afraid the appointment would be made at once

I knew nothing of the matter I did agree with others that if I was affirmed I would except and I wasn't you to say to Col. Stone for me to do what he

thinks but without regard two considerations of a personal nature. I am his friend and believe he is a friend of mine and I would ask that he look to the best interest of the country I'm not allow any personal considerations to come in the way. I did not know there was such a thing or fact When I was in Jackson I want them to know that fact because we have a Conversation about [illegible] of this district.

Also write me if you will go to Mobile Sunday night.
