I think if you can get the right man to travel for you it must be a good invest-ment. He must be a man in the first place of pleasant maners and calculated to please as soon as he presents himself a man of good judgement and an enquiring mind He must acquaint himself with every ones business and be able to give the

statue of evry one doing business with you through him so you may know how much to advance if any. You will be obligated to do that to some extent, and you must be acquainted with your customers in order to do it and succeed.

I dont know of any body now but will be on the look out. If I am likely to be idle I will do it myself.

I think an Agency here would pay if you get a good Man and keep a good supply of goods to supply your customers in this direction. You would get more Cotton and sell more goods your Agents could buy as much or perhaps more than on any other way.

Capt. Burris has written to Mr. Green on the subject of buying Cotton. I suppose he will hear from him in a few days.

Mr Hardaway sent your package last Sunday morning I suppose you have it e'er this.

I am coming out in a week or two and have a long talk with you If I can do anything for you that will be to the interest of both I want to do it If I dont do business for mys-elf I would rather do it for
