Aberdeen Miss April 7th 1876

Dear Bob

Your dispatch just received. I am glad to hear that Col Chalmers has good prospects. There is great dissatifaction here at the appointment of Kilpatrick. He is not the man in my opinion for the place. I like him but do not think he will make a success as Circuit Judge. I did not suppose he stood any chance as I had never seen a lawyer in the district who [favored?] him. We need a man who will dispatch business he is very slow. I am sorry he is appointed but suppose it is too late now.

[Trucker?] was the man. [Finley?] was a better man for the place than Judge Kilpatrick in my opinion.

very truly [??]

John W. Allen
