Metadata:
Title: Letter from Phoebe A. Hearst to May Wright Sewall.
Description: Mrs. Hearst states that it will not be possible for her to undertake the publication of Sewall's report (on the International Conference of Women Workers to Promote Permanent Peace?) due to heavy losses resulting from the Mexican Revolution. Additionally she does not feel that she can exert influence with the exposition authorities, her last request having been ignored by Mr. Moore. [All the more disappointing, surely, because Moore appointed Sewall to her position and Hearst was honorary President of the Woman's Board of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition.] Phoebe Apperson Hearst was the first female regent of the University of California, contributed to the founding of the National Parent-Teacher Association and the National Cathdral School in Washington, DC. She was the mother of William Randolph Hearst.
