My dear Mr. Tumulty:-

The colored citizens of New Jersey join me in asking a
short conference with you for a very distinguished and represen-
tative body of colored men on a matter of importance to the
nation, on Wednesday, August 1, 1917, at one o'clock p.,m. Their
mission I am advised is very mertiorious, and we take this op-
portunity of notifying you thereof, and we ask for them your
favorable consideration.
