Lemon Jelly
(filling for a layer cake)
1 cup sugar, one egg, juice
of one lemon, 1 tables water
1 teas flour cook in double
boiler until it thickens. Let cool.

Cream Filling
(for layer cake)
Boil 1 pt. milk, then stir into
it 2 tables cornstarch, moist
ened with a little milk, 2
eggs, 1 teacup sugar. When
nearly done add 1/2 cup
butter - flavor to taste.

Juice of six lemons to one
qt. water. The rind of lemon
grated and steeped in a
little water. the water strain
ed and a little of this
