Mrs Fidy left. She made me promise to call her up
as soon I got your letter. And what a sweet
letter [strikethrough] full of impulse and love [/strikethrough]. And three photos, where you are awfully slim, Geo looks splendid
and Babu a little gamin [gamine], perfectly like a boy.
Life can be bright sometimes [strikethrough] still [/strikethrough].

Sept 23. Thursday.
The town is full with rumours about the last
cabinet meeting on Tuesday. It is said that we
had a “démarche” from the Germans, to bind us
thoroughly by their side and to give one and a
half million soldiers. Second a version the [strikethrough] premier [/strikethrough] prime
minister fainted [strikethrough] on [/strikethrough] at the meeting. It is said that count Bethlen [strikethrough] pledged himself [/strikethrough] stood by the [strikethrough] antagonism [/strikethrough] opposition
he said, let the country be occupied and
the others were against him [strikethrough] yet [/strikethrough], because the allies are so far. Funny that Jewish circles
are for the present German friendship – of
course they fear an occupation [strikethrough] mostly [/strikethrough]. We have no means to controle these news and I hope
it is just German propaganda, but many people
believe it for sure that the Germans made peace
