and pleasant steering by the wind to the westward
this Day fitted a new Fore Top Sail with Points
&. &. Hands employed in various jobs of ships

Sunday, Sept. 9th, 1838.

Commences with moderate breezes from the south
and pleasant weather steering by the wind
to the westward.

middle Hours light airs and squally.
Latter the wind hauled in S E. by S. and pleasant
at 12 midnight judged ourselves on the
Equator having crossed it for the 15th time
since going to sea. at 10 A. M. saw a few
Black fish lowered for them without success.

So ends.

Monday, Sept. 10th 1838.

All of these 24 Hours moderate breezes from
the S. E. by S. steering by the wind to the S. &. W.
the Carpenter employed in fitting the Caboose
Hands in knotting yarns and making [spun?]
