Com__ed with moderate breezes from the south
and cloudy. at 4 A. M. made sail steering by the
wind to the west at 7 Do. saw 1 Right chaised
but without success. at 10 Do. saw 2 chaised
again Do. at meridian Tacked ship the wind
hauling in sw. at 5 P. M. saw 1 chaised again
but the same. at 6 Do. spoke ship India Luce[?]
master 90 bbls of sperm at 7 Do. took in sail
Heading S. S. E. water Blue.

So ends

Monday Nov. 12th 1838.

Com__ed with light breezes from the SW
middle & Latter Hours calm at 8 A. M. saw 3
Right whales lowered struck and killed one
took him alongside and cut him in all but
one Piece which was accidentally cut off the
carcass immediately sank and parted the Hawser
at 7 P. M. took in sail water green ship India
in sight. so ends Boiling

Tuesday Nov. 13th 1838.

Commences calm untill 7 A. M. light wind from the
SE made all sail steering by the wind to the
north & west untill 10 A. M. Tacked ship to the
S. & E. at 2 P. M. saw 2 Right whales chaised
but could not fasten. at 3 Do. chaised again and
the same at 4 Do. again. Do. the whales appear
to be very shy and Feeding [just?] under water
few Fowls water green. 3 ships in sight.
at 7 P. M. took in sail heading N. N. W.

So ends.
