Commences calm. at 4 A. M. moderate breezes and
thick weather attended with Rain wind N by W
made sail steering to the Eastward at 5 Do
saw 2 Right whales lowered for them but
it being thick saw them no more

middle & Latter Hours fresh gales with Rain
wore ship to the west and took in sail
Heading W N. W. at 7 P. M. wore ship to the
E. N. E so ends.

Latitude Obs. 36" 15 South. Longitude per. watch 24" 34 west

Friday Nov. 30th 1838.

All of these 24 Hours strong breezes from the
N. N. W. and thick smoaky weather. at 4 A. M.
made sail steering by the wind to the west untill
7 Do. Tacked ship to the N. & E. at 1 P. M. saw
any quantity of whale Birds at 3 Do. saw many
Fin backs run [?] out of them to the Eastward
at 3 Do. Tacked ship to the west at 5 Do. saw
the Fin backs again but no Right whales
at 7 Do. took in sail Heading west.

So ends

Saturday Dec. 1th 1838.

All of these 24 Hours strong breezes from the north
and smoaky weather. at 7 A. M. spoke ship Henery
of Sag Harbor L. Sweeny master 4 whales at 10 Do
saw 1 Right whale lowered chaised but could
not fasten. at 2 P. M. saw the Boats belonging to
the ship Commodore Preble Eldridge master fast
to a whale.

So ends
