All of these 24 Hours moderate breezes from
the N E and cloudy. at 4 . M. made sail heading
to the Eastward at 6 Do. saw 2 Right whales
lowered struck and killed him took him alongside
and cut him in.

Sunday Dec. 9th 1838.

Com__ces with fresh breezes from the NE
attended with light Rain. at 4 A. M. made
sail steering by the wind to the Eastward
saw the ship Meteor of Groton likewise Barque
Alex. Mansfield of Hudson but did not speak
them at meridian passed the Phenix cutting
middle Hours clear steered off south untill 3 Do.
hauled by the wind to the west

Latter Hours strong breezes from the north saw but
1 Right whale this Day, but several Fin backs
at 6 P. M. took in sail heading W. N. W.

So ends Boiling.

Monday Dec. 10th 1838.

Com____ces with strong breezes from the north
and squallyt at 2 A. M. the wind hauled to
the westward at 4 A. M. the wind increasing
took in the top gallant sails passed ship Condor
steering to the north at 3 P. M. tacked ship
steering by the wind to the south at 4 Do. saw
1 Right whale started him with the ship
chaised but without success at sunset saw 1
Feeding chaised Do this Day stowed down
70 bbls of Oil in the after Hatch starboard
side aft. Saw 4 ships steering to the north.
water green many Fin Backs.

So ends.
