Com___ces with moderate breezes from the north
and Foggy made sail steering to the west at 8 A. M.
the wind hauled to the South steered to the west. at 9 Do.
spoke Barque Jasper of New Bedford Shockly master
7 whales. at 4 P. M. spoke ship Hudson Green master
1900 blls. at 7 Do. took in Sail heading west.

Saw not a spout this Day.

So ends.

Thursday Jan. 10th, 1838.

All of these 24 Hours strong breezes from the South
first part cloudy steering to the west at 8 A. M. tacked
to the north untill 7 P. M. took in Sail heading w. by n.
Saw not a spout this Day by 7 ships doing nothing

So ends.

Friday, Jan. 11th, 1838.

Com___ces with strong breezes from the South made
sail steering to the Eastward untill 8 A. M. tacked
ship to the west. middle Hours the wind veering
to the Eastward steered South saw 2 ships steering
to the north. at 5 P. M. passed a carcasse.

Hands employed in repairing a spar From Top Sail
and fitting a Bonnet to the jib

Saw not a spout this Day water green.

So ends steering S. S. W. through the night.

Latitude Obs. 34" 44. South. Longitude per. watch 25" 40 west.

Saturday Jan. 12th, 1838.

All of these 24 Hours moderate breezes from the Eastward
and pleasant steering S. S. W. at 10 A. M. saw a shoal of Black
struck 3 and saved 1. Saw some yellow whale Feed but no
whales except 1 Fin back at 4 P. M. passed Barque Jasper
steering west. this Day put fall gunwale on the Bow Boat
and repaired her other ways. So ends with barren ground
and long Faces.
