Monday, Jan. 14th, 1838.

All of these 24 Hours moderate breezes from the
north and Foggy lying too heading to the Eastward
untill 6 P. M. tacked ship to the west.

Saw nothing this Day.

So ends.

Latitude Obs. 37" 30. South. Longitude by acc. 24" 00 west.

Tuesday, Jan. 15th, 1838.

Throught these 24 Hours fresh breezes from the north
and smoaky steering by the wind to the west untill
4 P. M. tacked ship to the N. & E.

Saw nothing this Day water Blue.

So ends.

Latitude Obs. 36" 50. South. Longitude per. watch 23" 22 west.

Ship France bound to Rio de Janeiro.

Wednesday Jan. 16th, 1838.

Com___ces with fresh gales from the north and clear
steering by the wind to the Eastward.

middle & Latter Hours fresh gales and cloudy

Saw nothing this Day carried Sail through the night.

So ends.

Thursday, Jan. 17th, 1838.

Com___ces with fresh gales from the north attended with
Rain. at 2 A. M. the wind veered to the west steered north
middle & Latter Hours fresh gales from the sw. sent aloft
the Top mast steering sail Booms and set the Sail steering
nw. So ends.
