Sunday, Feb. 3dth 1839.

The first & middle part of these 24 Hours calm
Latter Hours light airs from the E. S. E steering by the
wind to the NE. the Isle of Grand bearing nw 20 miles
Dist. Saw several sail steering to the west.

Latitude Obs. 23" 31 South. Long per watch 43" 55 west.

Monday, Feb. 4th, 1839.

Commences with light airs form the E. S. E. steering
by the wind to the N. & E. untill 9 P.M. the wind
hauled to the west set the steering sails and steered
E. S. E. untill 10 P. M. Steered East.

middle & Latter Hours calm. Round Island of Reo
Harbor bearing E. N. E. 30 miles Dist.

So ends.

Latitude Obs. 23" 17 South. Long per watch 43" 46 west.

Tuesday, Feb. 5th, 1839.

Commences with light airs from the west steering
E. by N Saw 2 Dead Bodies floating on the water
at 8 A. M. made the light on Rosa Island bearing
NE. by E. 20 miles Dist. at meridian the wind hauled to
the S. & E. steered in for Round Island at 2 P. M. passed
between it and the main leaving the Islands on our
Starboard hand found the wind to very unsteady
and varying but 2 Boats ahead at 5 P. M. passed
Fort Santa Cruz at 6 Do. came too with our best
anchor in 17 fathom water muddy Bottom.

took the following bearings Fort Villaganon W.N.W.
Fort Santa Cruz S. by W. Sugar Loaf Sw by w 3/4
mile Dist. at 7 P.M. was boarded by 3 Custom House Boats
with orders to move the first opportunity between 2 guard
Boats and then at Liberty to go on Shore.

So ends.
