Wednesday, Feb. 6th 1839.

at 1 P. M took the Sea breeze got underweigh and
run to the anchorage of Franqua and came
too with our best Bower in 16 Fathom water muddy
bottom turned the Hands on Sent down the Fore Top
Gallant yard mast For & Main Top Sail yard
& mast. got a permit from the Custom House for
the Boss Carpenter & Sail maker of the Port to go
on board and take the dimensions of 2 Top Sails
yards Fore & Main to make others by likewise the Sail
maker to measure for a Fore Top Sail & main Course
while on shore Hopkins deserted.

So ends

Thursday, Feb. 7th, 1839.

Commences cloudy middle & Latter Hours light
Rain found the Truss Trees on the Fore Top mast
Head to be Rotten took them and the main Top
Sail yard on Shore to make others by
likewise Brok out 100 Blls of Oil to Heel the Ship
and to pay our expences after getting out that
quantity and putting it on one Side found there
was Broken Copper 3 feet under water found
it impossible to repair it under those circumstances
and thought it for the good of those concerned to sell
both all the Oil & Bone.

So ends.

Friday, Feb. 8th 1839

Commences with light Rain middle & Latter Hours
clear. at 12 midnight Henery Woodman Edward
Ellis Uriah McGaw Michael Gafney Anthony
W. Houston Gustavus Reeves stole the Bow Boat
with there things and went over to Reo Grand
and hauled the Boat up on the Beach at Daylight
sent 2 Boats after her and brought her back
losing nothing but the men.
