Saturday, Feb. 9th, 1839.

Commences with Rain middle & Latter Hours clear
this day broke out 46 Casks of Oil and Sent on Shore
in a Lighter.

So ends.

Sunday, Feb. 10th, 1839.

All of these 24 Hours pleasant breezes and fair
weather at 9 A. M. let the following men go ashore on
liberty and be off at Sunset C Hempstead William Peters
Noah Peters Lun Smith Apollos Rose John Ducher Peter
McKnellidge John Thompson Tom Galvin Ben Watson Henery
Fordham Lachlan Thompson William Griffing Herman
G. King. those that returned where C. hempstead Apollos Rose
Henery Fordham Ben Watson Noah Peters.

at Daylight they refused to go to work and some of
them rather impudend shook there Fist at me knocked
him that is apollos Rose down the Fore Hatch and Jumped
on to him afterwards put him in the Hospital. the rest
of them turned on a regular Uriah McGaw put in Irons
this apears to be the commencement and I think will
end in dischargeing the 1st Mate who is as bad as the
crew. So ends.

Monday Feb. 11th, 1839.

All of these 24 Hours fine pleasant weather Hand 12
men from the shore in the place of deserters to break out
the Oil the remainder of our lying in Port being somewhat tedious
make but one putting in the particular items. 13 of the crew
deserted discharged George Chester the 1st Mate with 3 months
advance broke out the Oil and took the Procedes in coffee
and sent on to Baltimore consigned to the House of Will
Howell & Sons to be held subject to the order of N. & G. Hon
our Bone we also take in coffee for New York to Slate
Gardiner & Howell had we taken Specie our Oil would
have netted us but about 31 cts and taking coffee
about 35 cts Bone the same I found after getting out
all of our Oil and heeling the Ship as much as was safe
that we could not put the Copper on properly being so far
