Wednesday June 12th, 1839.

Commences with light breezes from the South draging our
whale of Shore to the S E. at Daylight Strong gales
Hooked on to our whale the piece tore out the gale increaseing
cut off the whales Flukes made all Sail Steering E. N. E.
for the Peninsula at 9 A. M. made the S E. part bearing NE by E
18 miles Dist at 2 P. M. off Hackeroak Bay in company
with the Atlantic of Warren both Ships running in for
the Bay She being a distance to the leeward with a
strong Northerly current and a heavy swell the wind
left her in an instant let go both Anchors but the
ship draged in to the Breakers the Boats left her and
went in to the Bay for assistance we ran in and
came too in 8 Fathom water with our best Bour
anchor ahead the named 3 Boats went out to the
Ship found it was safe to board and left her.

found the Ship France of Havre Peters master 12 months out 2600 blls

So ends.

Thursday June 13th, 1839.

Commences with strong breezes with Rain wind SE
with a large swell. at Daylight maned 4 Boats with
a Kedge anchor & war to haul the Ship off but to our
Surprze found nothing but pieces of her the Boats
picked up 12 blls of Flour, 2 Do. of apples dried, 1 Do. of Pork
1 new cutting Fall, 1 new Mizen Top Sail 10 oars and
2 Bunches of Shooks 1 Cask of Heading.

middle & Latter Hours fresh gales from the South.

Friday, June 14th, 1839.

Commences with ligh breezes from the Southward
and cloudy with Rain.

middle & Latter Hours clear this Day sent out 4 Boats
found 2 Pipes of Bread and and staves for 100 blls
of Casks.

So ends.
