Commences with light airs from the North and
pleasant at Daylight got under weigh and run
out of the Bay Ship Acasta in company at 9 P.M.
passed the Heads of the Bay saw 2 Right whales
lowered struck and killed one took him alongside
and cut him in middle & Latter fresh breezes from
the north and cloudy took in the Top gallant Sails
and steered by the wind to the Eastward Acasta
in company. [Silhouette of a whale with "60 Bls." written above it]

So ends.

Saturday July 6th, 1839.

Commences with fresh breezes from the Eastward
and cloudy Steering by the wind to the North
middle & Latter Hours Calm. Banks Peninsula
bearing W. S. W. 40 mi So ends.

Sunday, July 7th, 1839.

Commences Calm middle & Latter Hours fresh
breezes from the S. S. E. and Cloudy.
