Side Aft in the ground of which there was 11.

Wednesday, July 10th, 1839.

Commences with fresh gales from the S. S. E. steering
N. N. W. middle & Latter Hours more moderate and
pleasant the wind veering to SW.

this Day put a new Boat on to the Starboard Quarter
& waist [Cranes?] and took in the others to repair.

So ends.

Latitude Obs. 39" 47. South. Longitude by acc. 178" 00 East.

Thursday, July 11th, 1839.

All of these 24 Hours fresh gales from the SW. steering
by the wind to the N & W.

Carpenters employed in repairing Boats.

So ends.

Latitude Obs. 38" 13. South. Longitude per watch 179" 22 East.

Friday, July 12th, 1839.

Commences with fresh gales from the west steering by the
wind to the N. & W. at 4 P. M. Calm at 6 Do. fresh breezes
from the South steering by the wind to the west at 10 Do
fresh gales from the S E. steering SW.

middle & Latter Hours cloudy attended with Rain

So ends.

Latitude Obs. 37" 08. South. Longitude by acc. 179" 18 East.

Saturday, July 13th, 1839.

Commences with strong gales from the E. S. E. steering
SW. by S untill 5 P. M. Steered by the wind to the South
at 8 Do. the gale increasing tacked Ship to the N. & E.
at 9 Do. took in the Fore & mizen Top Sails & main
Sail middle Hours the wind veered to the SE Tacked
Ship to the SW. Latter strong gales and Squally.

So ends.

Latitude by acc. 37" 00. South. Longitude per acc. 179" 28 East.
