First & Latter part fresh gales from the W. N. W.
and clear Steering E N. E.

middle Hours Squally attended with Rain
this Day ubent the Sails and bent others.

Latitude Obs. 33" 00. South. Longitude per watch. 179" 20. East

Wednesday Aug 7th, 1839.

Commences with fresh gales from W N W and cloudy
steering E. N. E. at 12 midnight passed the meridian
of 180 East in consequence of that we gain 1 Day
calling Wednesday 7 Tuesday the 6 and taking the Declination
out for the 6 haveing left on the first and taken the East
middle & Latter Hours more moderate and pleasant
Carpenters employed in making a new crotched yard

Thursday Aug. 8th, 1839.

First part light breezes from W. N. W steering E N E
middle & Latter Hours the wind veered to SW
Saw several Hump Back whales water light green
a few Birds & Fowl.

Friday 9th, 1839.

First part fresh breezes from SW Steering E. N E untill
4 P. M. Steered North.

middle & Latter Hours more moderate wind west
Saw Several Hump Backs water light green.
