Thursday, Aug. 22th, 1839.

All of these 24 Hours pleasant breezes from the
S. S. W. and fair weather laying off & on the Island
of Macauleys at Daylight Sent in 2 Boats with
muskets & amunition for Hogs & goats at 3 P. M. returned
they returned with but 2 live Hogs and 4 Dead
goats in consequence of routing the inhabitants of 4 legs
the Day before they had retreated into some cavern
or gullies for safety. at 5 P. M. spoke Ship Julia of
London Swain master 24 months out 600 blls of Sperm
at 6 Do. set the Top Sails double Reefed Steering to the
Eastward.

So ends.

Latitude Obs. 30" 12 South. Longitude per watch 178" 45. west.

Friday, Aug. 23dth, 1839.

First part pleasant breezes from S S. W. and fair
weather steering to the Eastward at 6 A. M. Sandy Island
bore NE. by N. 25 miles Dist. Middle & Latter pleasant
breezes from the East Steering to the South spoke ship
Mercury of Stonington Smith master 400 blls Sperm no
whale 11 months out.

So ends this Day.

Saturday, Aug. 24th 1839.

Commences with fresh breezes from S. S. W. Steering
to the Eastward middle & Latter Hours more moderate
the wind veering to N. N. E. Steered S. S. E. Spoke the following
Ships Thorn Sag Harbor goodale master 1,000 blls Acasta
Smith of Do. 1 Right whale Barque Royal William of
St Johns no Oil Barque Favourite of Fair Haven
Swift 300 blls whale 100 Do. Sperm.

So ends
