untill 8 A. M. the wind hauled to the Eastward
Steered by the wind to the S. & E.

Middle Hours Strong breezes Spoke Ship Superior
of New London Mclain master 1300 blls. Ship Mercury
of Stonington in company.

Latter Hours more more moderate took in Sail
heading South. So ends.

Latitude Obs. 31" 35 South. Longitude per watch 178" 35. west.

Monday, Aug. 26th, 1839.

Commences with moderate breezes from the East
made Sail Steering North.

Middle & Latter Hours Fresh gales and cloudy
Ship Superior in company. at 5 P. M. Shortened
Sail for the Night Curtis Rocks bearing W by N macauleys
Island N. N. W. 20 mi. So ends.

Latitude Obs. 30" 40 South. Longitude per watch 178" 24.

Tuesday Aug 27th, 1839.

All of these 24 Hours strong gales and cloudy
with Rain wind E by N. Steering by the wind to the
South untill 4 A. M. Tacked Ship to the N. & E.
Saw Curtis Rocks bearing W. by N. Macauleys Island
N. N. W. 15 miles Dist. at meridian it bore west 6 miles
Dist. So ends.

Sun Obscure. Latitude by acc. 30" 00 South. Longitude by acc 178" 54. west

Wednesday Aug. 28th, 1839.

All of these 24 Hours fresh gales from the Eastward
Steering by the wind to the Northward untill 8 A. M.
tacked Ship to the South Spoke Ship Erie of
New Port Dennis master 16 blls whale oil.

So ends.
