Shi France cruiseing for whales on the off Shore ground

Monday, Sept. 30th, 1839.

First part fresh breezes from the North and smoaky
with light Rain Steering S. S. E. until 9 A. M. Steered
S. S. W Concordia in company at 10 She Saw two Right
whales and started them at 12 saw two more
but lost the run of them at 5 P. M. Saw 5 chaised
in company with the Boats of the Barque but ours
Struck one and killed took him along side and
lay by him through the Night we have seen this Day
about 12 Right whales and for the most part at
Home turning there Tail high and Slow water green
no Fin Backs Fowl our Birds. Middle Hours light breezes
Latter Hours calm.

Tuesday, Oct. 1th, 1839.

First part calm at 8 A. M finished cutting our
whale made all Sail at 9 Do. moderate breezes
from the South Steering by the wind to the Eastward
at 10 Do. saw whales lowered and struck
4 killed 3. cut from 1 sunk 1 and saved 2. took
them alongside. cut 2 of them in and lay by the
other through the Night. Middle Hours strong
breezes Latter Hours fresh gales one Sail in sight.
Saw about 6 Right whales this Day water green

Wednesday, Oct. 2th, 1839.

First part fresh gales from the South at Daylight
hooked on to our whale at 8 A. M. finished
made Sail Saw 2 whales chaised and started them
Middle & Latter Hours more moderate Saw 6 whales
this Day but no Success at 7 P. M. took in Sail heading
East. So ends Boiling. 3 Sail in Sight.
