Saturday, Oct. 19th, 1839.

First part strong breezes from the North and clear
middle Hours the wind west from that to S. S. W.
Latter Hours fresh gales and clear heading west.
Saw a plenty of whales but did not chaise

this Day Stowed down 200 blls of Oil in the Steerage
Hatch Starboard Side Foward.

So ends Boiling.

Latitude Obs. 34" 18 South. Longitude per watch 172" 51 w

Sunday, Oct. 20th, 1839.

First part fresh gales from the North at 8 A. M.
made Sail steering by the wind to the west.
at 10 Do. Saw several whales lowered struck and
killed one took him alongside and cut him in
Middle & Latter Hours more moderate the wind veering
to the Eastward with a large swell. at 6 P. M. wore
Ship to the North and took in Sail 3 Ships in sight.

Monday Oct. 21th, 1839.

All of these 24 Hours strong breezes from the west
at Daylight made Sail and wore Ship to the
North at 10 A. M. Saw 4 whales chaised them
but without Success at 1 P. M. wore Ship to the South
at 3 Do. Saw several whales lowered struck and
killed one sunk him at 6 Do. took in Sail heading
S. S. W.

Tuesday Oct. 22th, 1839.

All of these 24 Hours strong breezes from the west steering
by the wind to the North until 8 A. M. tacked
Ship to the South at 10 Do. Saw 3 whales struck 2 and
killed one the other took the Line and went off took the
Dead one alongside and cut him in.
