Thursday, Oct. 31th, 1839.

All of these 24 Hours pleasant breezes from the
west and fair weather cut in our whale
and made Sail Steering by the wind to the
N. & E. at 3 P. M. spoke Ship Lydia of Salem 7 whal
this Season at 3 Do. saw a shoal of Sperm
whales [hove?] the chances of both Ships together
struck one and killed took alongside of the
Lydia to cut in. saw no Right whales this
Day So ends Boiling.

Latitude Obs. 35" 18 South. Longitude per watch 173" 00 west.

Friday Nov. 1th, 1839.

All of these 24 Hours pleasant breezes from the
west and fair weather made Sail steering
by the wind to the South at 10 A. M. saw a
Shoal of Sperm whales chaised but could
not fasten. at 2 P. M. Spoke Ship Lydia of Salem
likewise Ship Mercury of Stonington 500 blls. Sperm 1,000 Do
whale at 7 P. M. wore Ship to the South and
took in Sail. at 8 Do. finished Boiling.

So ends.

Latitude Obs. 35" 40 South. Longitude per watch 172" 45 wes

Saturday, Nov. 2th, 1839.

All of these 24 Hours moderate breezes from the west
and fair weather Steering by the wind to the South
Saw 1 Carcase but no whales this Day stowed down
115 blls of Oil in the main Hatch starboard
Side. So ends.

Latitude Obs. 35" 45 South. Longitude per watch 172" 19 west.

Sunday Nov 3dth, 1839.

First part from the west steering to the South
middle & Latter Hours from the South Steering
by the wind to the East. at 10 A. M. took on
board 23 blls of Oil which was half of what the
whale made. at 4 P. M. Spoke Ship Adeline of Newbury
Port Brown master. 2500 blls. So ends. Saw nothing.

Latitude Obs. 35" 44 South. Longitude per watch 171" 55 west.
