First part fresh gales from the North heading to the
west Middle & Latter Hours more moderate the wind
veering to the west made Sail Steering to the South
at 10 A. M. finished Boiling at 4 P. M. Saw one
Right whale started him by the Ship saw him
no more at Sun set took in Sail heading South

water Blue so ends ship Roman in Sight.

Latitude Obs. 37" 18 South. Longitude per watch 172" 38 w

Saturday Nov 9th, 1839.

First part pleasant breezes from the west made
Sail Steering by the wind to the North. at 8 A. M
Saw 1 Right whale with several Fin Backs
chaised but without Success at 10 Do saw another
struck and killed took him alongside and cut
him in saw no more but a plenty of Fin Backs
water green. 2 Ships in Sight Steering to the South
middle & Latter Hours fresh breezes the wind hauling
to the North took in Sail heading to the Eastward

Sunday Nov 11th, 1839.

First part pleasant breezes from the North Steering
by the wind to the west untill 10 A. M. tacked to
the Eastward middle & Latter Hours the wind haled
to the west tacked Ship to the South at meridian
spoke Barqe Ship Royal William of St. Johns. 8 whales
at 7 P. M. took in Sail heading S. by W.

Saw nothing but Fin Backs this Day water green

So ends Boiling
