through the Night to the Eastward saw not the
Spout of a whale this Day water green.

at 8 P. M. finished Boiling.

So ends.

Tuesday Nov 12th, 1839.

First part pleasant breezes from the South and
cloudy Steering by the wind to the Eastward
Middle Hours the wind hauled to the Eastward
tacked Ship to the Southwest saw 1 Right whale
going fast at 4 P. M. spoke Barque Cherokee of New
Bedford Cook Master 13 whales ship Erie of New Port
Dennis mater 3 whales this Season at 9 P. M tacked to
the N. & E carrying Sail through the Night.

So ends this Day stowed down 75 blls of Oil
whale and 20 blls. of Sperm 3 Pipes Body. 1 Do. Head main Hatch Starboa
Side

Latitude Obs. 37" 33 South. Longitude per watch 171" 15 west.

Wednesday Nov 13th, 1839.

First part fresh breezes from the Eastward steering
by the wind to the North Middle Hours the wind
hauled to the North Steered by the wind to the
west. at 1 P. M. Saw 2 Right whales struck and
killed one took him alongside and cut him in
made Sail again Saw several Fin Backs but no Right
whales water green.

at 7 P. M. double Reefed the Top Sails and set the main
Sail carrying Sail endeavouring to get to the North.
