All of these 24 Hours moderate breezes from the west
and Foggy made Sail steering E. S. E Ships an
Maria & Superior in Sight at 4 P. M. Saw the an
Maria get a whale Saw the ship Superiors Boats
pulling to the windward at 5 Do. & 6 heard the discharge
of six or eight guns we Supposing her Boats lost
at 7 Do. took in Sail heading S. S. E.

Saw not a Spout this Day water green.

So ends.

Monday, Nov. 18th, 1839.

First part moderate and Foggy middle Hours the wind
hauled to the South steered by the wind to the South
Latter Hours the wind hauled to the S E. Ship Ann Maria
& Superior in Sight but no whales barren

this Day broke out the Fore Hatch and stowed things
to their proper places.

So ends.

Latitude Obs. 37" 30 South. Longitude per watch 168" 45 west.

Tuesday, Nov. 19th, 1839.

First part moderate breezes from the South and
cloudy Middle & Latter Hours pleasant the wind hauled
to the N W. Steered SE. through the Night ships
Ann Maria & Superior in company.

Saw 1 Fin Back this Day. water green.

Latitude Obs. 37" 39 South. Longitude per watch 168" 03 west.

Wednesday, Nov. 20th, 1839.

First part moderate and cloudy wind W. N. W
Steering S S. E.

Middle & Latter Hours Strong breezes saw several
Fin Backs and many whale Birds water green
at 8 P. M. set the Top Sails double Reefed steering
S W. through the Night.

So ends.
