Tuesday, Nov. 26th, 1839.

First part fresh gales with Rain made Sail
Steering by the wind to the west.

Middle Hours more moderate and smoaky Saw
1 Right whale going fast to the Eastward down Boats
chaised but without Success.

Latter Hours light airs from the North and clear
Saw 1 Hump Back whale chaised but could not fasten.
water light green ends with carrying Sail through the Night
to the west.

Latitude Obs. 42" 09 South. Longitude per watch 176" 37 west.

Wednesday, Nov. 27th, 1839.

All of these 24 Hours light airs from the North Steering
by the wind to the west saw a French Ship steering
to the west. at 10 A. M. Spoke Ship Ann Maria Middleton
Master 8 whales. Saw nothing but Fin backs this Day
water green. few Birds.

So ends.

Latitude Obs. 42" 39 South. Longitude per watch 177" 31 west.

Thursday, Nov. 28th, 1839.

First Calm Middle Hours the wind hauled to the South
from that to E. S. E and clear steered by the wind to
the South & west Ship An Maria in company.

Saw many Hump Backs but no Right whales.
at 7 P. M. took in Sail water green. So ends.

Latitude Obs. 42" 38 South. Longitude per watch 178" 57 west.

Friday, Nov. 29th, 1839.

First & Middle part strong gales from the Eastward
lying to Heading to the South the gale increaseing
wore Ship to the N. & E. took in the Fore Sail and
close Reefed the Main Top Sail.

Latter Hours the wind hauled to the North and more
moderate with Rain. Saw nothing this Day water green.

So ends.

Sun Obscure. Latitude by acc. 43" 48 South. Longitude by acc. 179" 11 west.
