Tuesday, Dec. 24th, 1839.

All of these 24 Hours Calm employed in staving off
the Fore Peak and keeping the Ship free
at 2 P. M. saw a ship to the NE Boiling
Saw a few Fin backs & killers but no Right whales
Ships Hourerly Leak 12.00 strokes we have now come to
the conclusion to go to Sidney for repairs and refit
the Ship for another cruise.

So ends.

airs from the NE Steering W. N. W Saw 2 Ships
steering to the South. the Carpenter employed in

Latitude by acc. 45" 03 South. Longitude per watch 178" 46 west.

Ship France bound to Sidney.

Thursday Dec. 26th, 1839.

All of these 24 Hours pleasant breezes from the N. N. E.
and fair weather Steering W. N. W

this Day bent a Fore & Mizen Top gallant Sail
& Fore Top mast Steering Sail.

Ships Hourly Leak 1150 strokes.

So ends.

Latitude Obs. 44" 13 South. Longitude per watch 180" 00 w

Saturday Dec 27th 1839.

All of these 24 Hours pleasant breezes from the E. S. E
and fair weather steering W. N. W this Day we cross
the meridian of 180 Degrees west wherein we loose one Day
calling Friday Saturday. So ends.

Latitude Obs. 43" 08 South. Longitude per watch 176" 56 East.
