Feb 1th to the 6th 1840.

All of these 6 Days hands employed in discharging
the Oil and preparing it for Boston by the Barque
Shepherdess Hooper master which vessel takes about 560 blls
of whale Oil and 24 blls of Sperm.

Men are disorderly as ever caused by strong drink

So ends.

Feb 6 to the 18th, 1840.

The 7th & 8th finshed breaking out the Oil likewise [Kenlage?]
empty Casks and every thing ready for heaving out
Blocks lashed and Falls Prove on the 12th the Surveyers
came and examined the Ships Keel the carpenters
employed in clearing away for work they coming on
Monday and Drunk untill Wednesday.

So ends.

Feb 18th to the 24th, 1840.

All of these 6 Days hands employed in heaving down the
vessel and righting her daily the Carpenters appearing
to work as if they were nearly Dead which for
the most part they really are but dead Drunk
and if reprimanded for there Beasty way will
take there Tools and be off.

So ends.

Feb. 24th to the 28th.

The 25th our repairs are completed and the Surveyers
pronounced it done in a workman like manner
and is now as Seaworthy as ever

in these 4 Days have lost 12 men by desertion with discharging
the First & Third officers for the better or worse.

the 26th Hauled back the Ship and commenced taking in
Oil & water & &

So ends.
