Rain at 2 A. M the wind hauled to the west
Steered South untill 9 A. M steered of SE. at
11 Do. made Cape Stephens bearing South 18 miles Dist
Saw a Top Sail Schooner steering to the SE
Middle & Latter Hours clear the wind veering
to the North at Sunset Cape Stephens bore South
10 miles Dist. at 8 P. M Steered SE.

So ends

Latitude Obs. 40" 08. South. Longitude per watch 174" 34 East

Wednesday, April 22th, 1840.

All of these 24 Hours Squally with heavy
Showers of Rain wind N. N. W Steering SE
at 1 A. M. made the Island of Capity or Entry
Island bearing SE. by E. 8 miles Dist. at 2 Do
Steered SSE at 3 Do. hauled by the wind to
the west. at 2 1/2 A. M tacked to the Eastward
at 4 Do. the Squalls cleared up Steered SSE
at 6 Do. passed Cape Terawitte. at 8 Do. steered
SE. at 10 Do. Saw a Barque Ship coming out
of Port Nicholson Steering to the SE

at 5 P. M Cape Palliser bore NE 20 miles Dist

So ends.

Latitude Obs. 41" 43. South. Longitude per watch 175" 10 East.

Thursday April 23dth 1840

First part Strong gales from the NW Steering SE by S
Middle & Latter the wind increaseing and veering
to W. S. W took in sail and set the Spencers
heading SSE.

So ends.

Latitude Obs. 42" 36. Longitude per watch 175" 50 East

Friday, April 24th 1840.

All of these 24 Hours strong gales from the
SW. and Squally lying too heading to
the SE.

So ends.
