the wind to the SW. at 10 A. M. made Bankses Peninsula
bearing W. S. W. 40 miles Dist. Saw a Barque Ship
Steering for Port Cooper. Middle & Latter Hours
light airs from the NE. Steered SW.

So ends.

Latitude Obs. 43" 27. South. Longitude per watch 173" 55. E

Sunday May 10th, 1840.

First part light airs from the North Steering SW
for the Peninsula middle Hours calm.

Latter Hours the wind hauled to the SSW at
4 P. M. Spoke Ships Neptune Slight master 1500
Washington Osborn 2500 at Sunset hauled off Shore
to the SE. So ends.

Latitude Obs. 43" 35. South. Longitude per watch 173" 20. East.

Monday, May 11th, 1840

First part light airs from the North Steered SSW
at 10 A. M the wind hauling to the west
Middle Hours Strong breezes from the South
wore Ship and steered off NW for the Peninsula
Latter Hours Calm.

Latitude Obs. 44" 00. South. Longitude by acc. 173" 00. East.

Tuesday May 12th, 1840.

First part light airs from the North steering in
Shore. Middle & Latter Hours light airs from the
South Saw a Ship & Barque to the SW.

So ends

Latitude Obs. 43" 46. South. Longitude per watch 173" 40. E.

Wednesday, May 13th, 1840.

First part light airs from the South Steering
by the wind to the west middle Hours the wind
hauled to the SE. bent the Cables and got the
Anchors off the Bows at 4 P. M run into the mouth
or entrance of Hackaroa Bay the wind veering to
the North came too anchor in 15 fathomwater.
Latter Hours light airs from the North.
