Thursday May 14th, 1840.

First part light airs from the North
Middle Hours from the South weighed anchor
and run up the Bay and came too in
7 Fathom water. Sent off 15 men to the west
Side of the Bay for cutting wood

So ends.

Friday May 15th, 1840.

All of these 24 Hours light airs from the South
and pleasant weather

Hands employed in wooding & watering.

So ends.

First strong winds from the South let go our
second anchor and payed out the whole of
both Chains. Middle Hours more moderate sent off
14 men for wood Latter Calm hove up the second
anchor at 4 P. M the French Ship Gustave Decklo master
with 1900 blls of Oil came to anchor in the Bay.

So ends.

Saturday, May 17th, 1840.

All of these 24 Hours strong gales from the South
and Squally with showers of Rain let go the
second anchor and payed out the whole of both
Chains at 10 A. M. Sent the crew on liberty
at Sunset they all returned with the exception of
James Hamilton, Henry Willson & Patrick Kelly deserted.

So ends.

Sunday May 18th, 1840.

First part fresh gales with Rain

Middle & Latter Hours more moderate and
pleasant Sent 14 men to cut wood.

So ends.

Tuesday May 19th, 1840.

All of these 24 Hours light airs from the North
and fair weather sent off the wood chopers
one Boat for Flags likewise one for Iron Poles
at night they returned with 90 Poles and
a quantity of Flags.
