pleasant at 10 A. M. Banks Peninsula bore NW. by W
25 miles Dist.

Sunday, May 31th, 1840.

First part light airs from the South Steering to the
NE. Middle Hours the wind hauled to E. N. E. tacked
Ship to the SE. Latter strong breezes and squally.

Monday June 1th, 1840.

All of these 24 Hours strong breezes from the NE
and clear steering by the wind to the S. & E
at 10 A. M. Saw several Hump Back whales but dnot
chaise. So ends.

Tuesday, June 2th, 1840.

All of these 24 Hours fresh breezes from the NE.
with Rain Steering by the wind to the S. & E.

All of these 24 Hours fresh gales from the Eastward
and Squally with light Rain steering N. by W.
at 3 P. M. Saw a shoal of Sperm whales lowered
2 Boats for them without success
