All of these 24 Hours fresh gales from SE. and Squally
lying too under close reefed main Top Sail & Fore
and main course Heading to the west untill 8 A. M.
tacked Ship to the N. & E at 8 P. M. wore to the
west. So ends.

Latitude Obs. 13" 28. South. Longitude per watch 176" 46. East.

Thursday, July 9th, 1840.

First part Strong SE. gales and cloudy set the Top
Sails close Reefed. Steering by the wind to the N. & E.
Middle & Latter Hours the wind hauled in E. N. E. and
clear tacked Ship to the Southward.

So ends.

Friday July 10th, 1840.

All of these 24 Hours strong gales from ESE Steering
by the wind to the S. & W. untill 1 P. M. wore Ship
to the N. & E. So ends Squally.

Steering by the wind to the N. & E. unill 12 midnight wore

First part strong E S E gales and Squally Steering by the wind
