Sterring by the wind to the N. & E.

Middle Hours Squally the wind veered to ENE tacked
Ship to the S. & E. Latter Hours more moderate.
at meridian Rotumak or Granville Island bore by calculation
SE 3/4 E. 41 miles Dist. So ends.

Latitude Obs. 12" 05. South. Longitude per watch 176" 24. East.

Tuesday, July 14th, 1840.

All of these 24 Hours light airs from the SE and squally
with Rain steering by the wind to the Southward.
by calculation the above Island bore SE by E 3/4 E 21 miles Dist
at 12 So ends.

Latitude Obs. 12" 19. South. Longitude per watch 176" 40. East.

Wednesday July 15th, 1840.

All of these 24 Hours light airs from the Eastward
and pleasant weather steering by the wind to the
N. & E. So ends.

Latitude Obs. 11" 58. South. Longitude per watch 176" 45. E.

Thursday July 16th, 1840.

First part light airs from the S. S. E. Steering by the
wind to the Eastward untill 8 A. M. the wind veering
to the Eastward tacked Ship to the South.

So ends.

Latitude Obs. 11" 45. South. Longitude per watch 177" 09. East.

Friday July 17th, 1840.

All of these 24 Hours fresh breezes from the Eastward
and Squally at 2 A. M. lay too for the Island of
Rotumak untill Daylight but when it came saw
nothing at 7 Do. tacked Ship to the N. & E.

So ends.

Saturday July 18th 1840

All of these 24 Hours fresh E. S. E. wind and clear.
Steering by the wind to the N. & E.

So ends.
