graces of his people which are ye fruits of his
passion & merit. This is a special opportuni-
for believers to take to be abundantly deligh-
ted in ye good things which he hath purcha-
sed for them, & so to feast with Christ. If
Christ take pleasure & rejoyce in ye good he
hath done for his people, surely yy who are
receivers of ye good should rejoyce & be
delighted also. Isai. 25.6.

4. Prop. Christ graciously invites believers to de-
light themselves abundantly with ye blessed
fruits & benefits of his Redemption. Eat, [drink?]
abundantly, saith Christ here. Cant. 2.10. This
may be taken as spoken to believers in a dis-
consolate, discouraged condition, to [?], quick-
en, rouse & comfort them yt he may bring
them to more nearnes of fellowship with
him & to more boldnes & delight in mak-
ing use of him & his grace. So Cant. 4.8.
It is Christs manner to be putting his servants
upon making much use & improvement of him
yt yy may be abundantly rejoyced & com-
forted in him. Joh. 16.24. Believers need in-
vitation & to be pressed to take up comfort
in Christ & his grace, there is so much of
unbelief, such dulnes of their spiritual
appetite, & sometimes great sense of their
unworthiness which makes them sinfully
modest, yy can't come to feast upon & with
Christ. Christ sô bids & entreats them to
eat their meat to chear themselves in him
he bids them welcome & invites them to
take freely & largely. It is the practice
of Christ to be inviting & calling such as hun-
ger & thirst after him, feel their need of him
have a will or desire to him to come & take a-
bundant satisfaction in him. Isai. 55.1. Joh. 7.37.
Mat. 11.28. Revel. 22.17.

5. Prop. Christ herein treats believers as his beloved
friends. 'Eat O friends etc: O beloved. Christ treats
them familiarly & heartily, as those with whose
company he is much delighted & pleased.

Sequ. 4.1. 168^ 23.
