Dear Sir

Your kind invita-
tion to me, to be present at the cere-
mony of laying the corner stone
of the principal building of the
University of the South on the 10th
instant, was received this morning.
It would give me much pleas-
ure to be present on that interest-
ing occasion, but my engage-
ments here will prevent.

Hoping, that the enterpise
which you have undertaken
with such praise worthy energy
may prosper, I remain

Yours respectfully

Saml F. {illegible: Praey?}
