& syrupy. Combine milk & gelatin in
top of double boiler - bring to scalding
point, stirring occassionally. Then
add melted sugar gradually, stirring
constantly. Pour over egg yolks,
slightly beaten with 2 Tbs. sugar
stirring constantly. Return to double
boiler & cook stirring constantly
until mixture coats a spoon. Re-
move from heat, add salt & flavoring
& cool until partially set. Beat
egg whites until quite stiff, gradually
add remaining 4 Tbs. sugar while
beating. Add caramel mixture &
beat well. Turn into pie shell.
Sprinkle ¼ c. sliced Brazil nuts on
top.

1 c milk 1 yeast cake (compressed)
3 Tb. shortening ¼ c. lukewarm water
1½ t. salt 1 egg, beaten
2 Tb. sugar 4½ c flour (over)
