Sift dry ing. Cream shortening, add
sugar. Add egg. Dissolve soda in
water & add. Stir in lemon juice &
rind. Add flour gradually. Drop by
teaspoons on greased sheet. Press thin
with a bottom of glass. Hot oven (425)
8-10 min. 3½ doz.
Molasses Gingersnaps
3 c. sifted flour | 1 c. molasses |
2 t. baking powder | ¾ c. cooking oil |
1 t. salt | ½ c. milk |
½ t. ginger | |
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar |
Mix dry ing. Mix brown sugar
molasses & oil together. Add flour
mixture, alternately with milk. Drop
by t. [teaspoons] on greased baking sheet. Press
thin with bottom of glass. Bake in
hot oven 400 degrees 12-15 min. 5 doz.
Add more flour if necessary to
make dough stiff enuf to press.
